<p>You may sometimes need to keep a cell empty. You can do that by not adding any element to the cell.</p>

<p>But it won&#8217;t create a transparent background in the cell. It will be like a cell without any elements. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="888" height="536" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-54-26.png" alt="" class="wp-image-20711" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px" srcset="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-54-26.png 888w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-54-26-300x181.png 300w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-54-26-768x464.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 888px) 100vw, 888px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<p>But what if you want to show the background on the cell or keep it empty like the image below? </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img decoding="async" width="878" height="492" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-57-49.png" alt="" class="wp-image-20712" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px" srcset="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-57-49.png 878w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-57-49-300x168.png 300w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_15-57-49-768x430.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 878px) 100vw, 878px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<p>WP Table Builder has the option to make a cell empty. Let&#8217;s see how to make a cell empty in WP Table Builder. </p>

<p>First,<strong> click on any cell</strong> that you want to make empty <strong>(1)</strong>. Then, select &#8220;Cell Control&#8221; <strong>(2)</strong> and <strong>enable </strong>the &#8216;<strong>Empty Cell</strong>&#8216; option <strong>(3)</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img decoding="async" width="913" height="628" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-08-21.png" alt="" class="wp-image-20714" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px" srcset="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-08-21.png 913w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-08-21-300x206.png 300w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-08-21-768x528.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 913px) 100vw, 913px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<p>Below is a preview of what we have done in the step above.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="752" height="490" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-12-28.png" alt="" class="wp-image-20715" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px" srcset="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-12-28.png 752w, https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-12-28-300x195.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px" /></figure>

<p></p>

<p>That&#8217;s it. Just click the <strong>&#8216;Save&#8217;</strong> button to <strong>save the changes</strong>.</p>

<p>But what if you want to use your table as a template?</p>

<p>It is possible by using <a aria-label="WP Table Builder PRO (opens in a new tab)" class="rank-math-link" href="https://wptablebuilder.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WP Table Builder PRO</a>.</p>

<p>Here, you can change the padding and margin of the element. Padding changes the space <strong>inside</strong> the element, and margin changes the space <strong>outside</strong> the element.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s how it works &#8211;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1272" height="734" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-34-17.gif" alt="" class="wp-image-20719" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px"/></figure>

<p></p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want the <strong>proportional changes of top, right, bottom, and left margin/padding, </strong>click on the link sign, and every proportion will be increased or decreased to the same value. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1280" height="792" src="https://wptablebuilder.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2025-03-19_17-36-28.gif" alt="" class="wp-image-20720" style="border-width:1px;border-radius:3px"/></figure>

<p></p>
